Leicester School of Media, Communication and Sociology
The School of Media, Communication and Sociology (MCS) draws together two former departments each of which have famous legacies for Leicester with more than 50 years as field-leaders in their disciplines. MCS derives its intellectual identity from a commitment to tackling ‘real world’ problems in the pursuit of equality, diversity and social justice.
We maintain strong disciplinary profiles in each of the areas of Media, Communication and Sociology whilst generating new knowledge working across disciplinary boundaries, embracing areas that span the humanities and social sciences. We drive excellence through theoretically-informed empirical research and cutting-edge teaching which is enhanced by our unique inter-disciplinary position.
