School of Healthcare Science

We are a large School with an international reputation, an outstanding record in teaching and research with state-of-the-art facilities.

The School is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, one of the largest science and engineering educators in the UK with over 5,000 students. Our home is the John Dalton building which is located in the centre of Manchester at our All Saints campus.

Our reputation and accreditations
We have a reputation for excellent academic programmes, high student satisfaction, internationally recognised research and strong links to the NHS, hospitals and clinicians.

Our degree programmes include human biology, biomedical science and physiology. They are accredited by professional bodies including the Institute of Biomedical Science, the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists, the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal Society of Biology.

Our facilities
In the last ten years, we have invested over £50 million in specialist labs, workshops and equipment. Most recently we constructed a new £3m building for our Centre for Healthcare Science Research, featuring specialist laboratories for work on genetics and cell biology, orthopaedics, exercise science and the advanced study of physiology. It also houses one of the few magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to be found outside a hospital setting. See a full list of our facilities or a summary of our teaching equipment.
