School of Law

As the first Law School in Wales, we use this firm academic foundation to teach a series of stimulating degrees across our two main subject areas: Law and Criminology. Aberystwyth Law Schools offers a range of flavoured degrees, including Criminal Law, Human Rights and Business Law in additional to our Criminal Justice and Criminal Psychology pathways.  Our degree programmes will allow you to study and understand the foundations of law, explore how criminal justice systems influence society, and examine the problems arising from crime and criminal behaviour. In doing so you will develop a wider understanding of critical issues relating to the environment, criminality, the internet, scientific development, policing, human rights and prisons, amongst a varied range of other captivating topics.

Even if you have no prior knowledge of law or criminology, our carefully devised degrees schemes mean all first years will receive a thorough introduction to legal principles, study skills, criminological perspectives and research methodologies. These sound foundations are built upon in later years as you specialise in one direction or combine your studies with a second discipline.
