The Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) is an internationally-recognised research and teaching centre providing a unique base for research in response to global challenges such as food security, bioenergy and sustainability, and the impacts of climate change. IBERS' scientists conduct research on genes and molecules, whole organisms and the environment.

Our innovating and research based teaching has been recognised by The Complete University Guide in the Times & Sunday Times as top 10 UK University for teaching quality in the subject area of agriculture and forestry and top 5 in the UK for research quality. Our Animal Science courses scored 2nd in the UK for teaching quality and we are the top 10 UK University for teaching quality and student experience for the subject area of Biological Sciences. (The Complete University Guide, The Times & The Sunday Times 2018).
