Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing

Situated in the birthplace of the British motor industry and the historical heart of UK manufacturing, the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing enjoys a global reputation for business-focused research and teaching. The Faculty (referred to within the University as EEC) is comprised of three Schools and four Research Centres: + School of Computing, Electronics & Mathematics + School of Energy, Construction & Environment + School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Automotive Engineering + Centre for Fluid and Complex Systems + Centre for the Built and Natural Environment + Centre for Manufacturing & Materials Engineering + Centre for Mobility & Transport Whether harnessing the power of new technologies to streamline manufacturing, developing complex algorithms to mine big data or pioneering sustainable solutions to industry problems, our students and staff are tackling some of the society’s most pressing issues. Through original approaches from world-leading experts, our research aims to make a positive impact on and tangible difference to the way we live. As well as an extensive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, we offer a range of internships and PhD opportunities across all areas of study. We are firmly committed to preparing our students for successful, long-lasting global careers, in the context of current and future employer demands. We work with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Jaguar Land Rover, GE Aviation, Cummins, and Intel; many provide direct input to teaching delivery, as well as regular feedback through membership of our Industry Advisory Boards. Part-funded by Government and in collaboration with Unipart Group, we have also created the world’s first ‘faculty on the factory floor’ – our £32m Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) – at Unipart Powertrain Applications company site in Coventry. It was announced as best ‘Technology Innovation’ at the 2016 Cotswold Life Engineering Manufacturing Innovation (EMI) Awards. Our innovative activity-led learning approach, underpinned by ‘real-life’ projects, experiences and access to industry-standard software and equipment, has shaped the unique culture of our forward-facing Faculty. Within our £50m state-of-the-art building, we’re proud to be inspiring people to study in a broad range of disciplines, widening perceptions about how engineering and computing can impact on worldwide cultural, scientific, technological and social development.
