School of Psychology and Therapeutic Studies

Can you listen attentively? Could you give the time, empathy and respect that clients need to express their feelings? If so, a career in the talking therapies could be for you.

Counsellors and psychotherapists are trained practitioners who work with people to help them make positive changes or enhance their wellbeing.

We offer a wide range of psychotherapy and counselling courses in South Wales. We may even have training in areas you haven’t considered before. Plus, with many levels of study, we offer lots of ways for you to qualify for registration as a professional counsellor or therapist.

Many of our counselling courses are recognised and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Health and Care Professions’ Council (HCPC).

You will learn how to facilitate establishing a relationship of trust with your client and how to identify and explore patterns of belief and behaviour in their roles and relationships. You will also study the relevance of wider networks such as family, professionals and communities with your clients, and consider their problems in the context of their lives and living.
