Description
The Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies (CSCT) focuses on developing new molecules, materials, processes and systems from the lab right through to industrial application, with an emphasis on practical sustainability. We train scientists and engineers to work together with industry to meet the needs of current and future generations.
We welcome applications from graduates of science and engineering disciplines (including biology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, mechanical engineering, pharmacy and physics) who already have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class honours degree and have a strong interest in sustainable technologies.
This innovative 4-year Doctoral Programme is funded by EPSRC, the University of Bath and a range of Industrial Partners. The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) places fundamental concepts of sustainability at the core of a broad spectrum of research and training in applied sciences. At least 12 fully-funded PhD places are available each year.
The Integrated PhD programme in Sustainable Chemical Technologies incorporates masters-level study leading to the award of an MRes in Sustainable Chemical Technologies followed by a research project leading to the award of a PhD.
The CDT provides a dynamic, multidisciplinary research and training environment in the area of chemical sustainability. All CDT students will receive foundation training to supplement their undergraduate knowledge, as well as training in sustainable chemical technologies (SCT) and transferable skills. All will conduct high quality and challenging research within an SCT theme directed jointly by supervisors from across the Faculties of Science and Engineering, and each project will also include input from one of our many industrial and international partners.
