Description
Drawing upon the research and teaching expertise of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science and the School of Healthcare Science, this innovative new programme explores the interface between sport science and human structure and function, combining units of study in sport and physiology.
Based in Manchester with access to excellent teaching and research facilities, the programme will develop strong theoretical and practical knowledge of both subjects. You will gain a clear understanding of scientific investigation, develop an evidence-based approach in relation to sport science and physiology and explore current issues.
Your physiology studies will enable you to develop strong theoretical and practical appreciation of human physiology with particular focus on physical activity and health. This will be complemented by a rounded study of sport including the development of knowledge and skills appropriate to work environments in sport and physical activity.
In your final year, you will work more independently in areas of your choice and you will be encouraged to criticise, analyse and interpret information in your research or an applied project.
