Description
Whether you go on to manage an entire hotel resort complex, organise weddings or run major conference events, this course gives you the expertise you need. Work placements are embedded in every year of your study. Recent destinations have included O2 Arena, Silverstone, Cheltenham Festivals, Ellenborough Hotel, Marriot Hotel and Resorts (USA) and Sea Pines Resorts (USA).
Explore the creative challenges of events management and develop your professional expertise within the hotel and resort sector. Alongside key leadership skills, you'll study a range of industry-specific modules on fascinating subjects such as resort and leisure operations management, food and beverage management, and celebratory and special event design and production. You’ll develop industry knowledge and management expertise, learning with OPERA (internationally-used hotel booking software) and ARTIFAX (world class venues and events management software). On graduation you’ll be ready to progress into these globally operating sectors.
Work experience is embedded across the degree. Our compulsory 48-week placement year is an invaluable opportunity to enrich and develop your skills, knowledge and practical experiences, whether at home or abroad. Students often opt for a year abroad, combining their want of adventure with preparing for a global career. Recent international destinations have included Sea Pines Resorts (California), White Lodge Resort (Florida) and Westin Hotels and Resorts (New York). You’ll also gain insights on field trips to locations such as the St Pierre Marriott Hotel and Country Club, Cotswold Water Park, Three Choirs Vineyard and Montpellier Chapter.
