Description
Building surveyors are sought after professionals, and the work of a chartered building surveyor can be varied or involve high levels of specialism. A chartered building surveyor can be involved in a construction project from its inception, through design and procurement, to managing its fulfilment, and eventually overseeing the building in use.
This course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), meaning that you will be educated to the highest industry standards. As this programme is the gateway to professional status, it will develop your professional and technical skills specific to building surveying, as well as your presentation, communication and collaboration skills, which are vital in everyday life in practice.
This course combines academic study with the application of professional skills and competencies and is taught through a combination of academic study and project work. You will work with students from other related courses, mirroring the multidisciplinary, team-based approach of the modern construction and property industry.
In year one, you will study alongside other related built environment courses within the school, so you experience collaborative learning and gain an understanding of built environment essentials. During year two, you will follow building surveying specific modules, as well as the multi-disciplinary project. In your final year, you will take a further series of building surveying specific modules and complete a research dissertation on a built environment subject of your choice under the supervision of our academic staff.
