The course is designed to develop strong technical game development and project management skills to enhance your employability. A key element of the course is its emphasis on the technical skills that underpin games design, development and the game art pipeline. This includes areas such as games programming, agile project management, 3D modelling & simulation, motion capture and virtual reality systems.
We have an excellent track record for graduate employment with many of our students going on to work at some of the UK's most recognisable game studios.
In addition, our unique Business Accelerator initiative which delivers industry-standard theory and practice allowing students to gain valuable experience in the game development process and the management of a game studio.
Wrexham Glyndŵr University is one of only eleven UK regional Tranzfuser hubs that are sponsored and supported by the UK Games Fund and UK Games Talent. Our business incubation centre (The Enterprise Lounge) plays a key role in supporting this initiative and is home to several student owned game studios.
We work closely with organisations such as Games Wales, BAFTA Cymru and the British Computing Society to ensure that our students always have access to cutting-edge industry related training and knowledge.
The option of an Industrial Placement Year (2019 entry only) is a defining feature of this programme. It takes place in year 3 after which students return to complete the final year of the course. The Industrial Placement Year provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience of the workplace, put the knowledge and skills developed so far into practice, and to acquire new information and abilities in a practical setting.
