Our full-time Education Studies MA is a 15 month taught programme that caters for the needs of those who wish to gain an MA degree through intensive full-time study. The course has been designed to appeal to both home and international students.
- Curriculum Development (30 credits)
- Educational Leadership and Management (30 credits)
- Research methods (30 credits)
- Dissertation (60 credits)
- Placement module (students will have a period of placement in local schools) (20 credits)
And either
- Sociology of Childhood & Youth (30 credits)
Or, (for international students wishing to study English language at post-graduate level)
- Academic Writing & Grammar (10 credits)
- Advanced Vocabulary Use & Reading (10 credits)
- Speaking & Listening (10 credits)
Some teaching may take place at the weekend and late afternoon.

Placements
You will be able to undertake your placement at either a nursery, primary, secondary or special education school or at a college of Further Education where you will observe classroom teaching, management, curricula and assessment strategies used by teachers and have first-hand experience of the UK education system. Placements will also allow you to reflect on your studies and observe how the theory is put into practice, which will help your further development and professional competence.
All students must complete the placement module successfully to pass the course.
*Students must ensure they bring all documentation for a criminal record check to the School of Education at the start of the course. Students cannot be placed at school without the required criminal record check.
