Description
The Financial Economics BA deals with the fascinating world of pricing, interest rates and shares and how rational (or even irrational!) decisions affect them. You will explore the global role of these financial systems in modern economics and learn to analyse the impact of economic events on financial markets.
This course introduces techniques of financial economics such as derivatives pricing, risk management methods and portfolio management. You will also become a proficient user of financial software and complex data sources which will enable you to better understand the impact and reach of economic decisions.
The first year of this degree is common to the following BA degrees:
Banking and Finance BA
Business Economics BA
Economics BA
Economics and Accounting BA
Financial Economics BA
This means that you will have the option to switch to one of the BA degrees in this list during your first year.
A Financial Economics BA will prepare you for a career in both the public and private sectors, including banking and finance, central banking and regulatory agencies. Your time here will also equip you with the research techniques that are vital to postgraduate study.
Our staff are internationally renowned and have acted as advisers and consultants to many international and national organisations, including the European Central Bank, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Poland, the Central Bank of Greece and a number of UK Government departments.
To help you develop the skills that leading employers ask for, and let you see how traders work, we have 12 Bloomberg terminals in the University Library.
The close relationship between research and teaching is one of the great advantages of studying with us. We welcome talented students from countries all over the world.
