Description
The Economics and Accounting BA will provide you with the opportunity to study two interrelated subjects, providing you with a comprehensive knowledge of the key areas of economics and accounting. You will be introduced to techniques of accounting, such as financial reporting, management accounting, auditing and taxation.
If you choose to take the Economics and Accounting BA you will have the excellent opportunity to gain exemptions from certain professional exams such as the CIMA, ACCA and ACA (offered by the ICAEW). These exemptions are dependent upon the satisfactory completion of certain modules.
The first year of this degree is common to the following BA degrees:
Banking and Finance BA
Business Economics BA
Economics BA
Economics and Accounting BA
Financial Economics BA
This means that you will have the option to switch to one of the BA degrees in this list during your first year.
At the beginning of your first year there will be a four day induction programme. This will give you the opportunity to become familiar with the department and get to know you tutors and fellow students, giving you the best possible start to your time at Leicester.
Our staff are internationally renowned and have acted as advisers and consultants to many international and national organisations, including the European Central Bank, the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the Central Bank of Poland, the Central Bank of Greece and a number of UK Government departments.
To help you develop the skills that leading employers ask for, and let you see how traders work, we have 12 Bloomberg terminals in the University Library.
The close relationship between research and teaching is one of the great advantages of studying with us. We welcome talented students from countries all over the world.
